Paraparaumu College Finish Creditable Fifth At Hockey’s Aon Rankin Cup

Paraparaumu College have finished a creditable fifth at the New Zealand Hockey’s Aon Rankin Cup, a trophy that dates back to 1923.   Having progressed well through pool play and finishing top of their group, Paraparaumu came up against eventual tournament winners Christ’s College at the quarter final stage.  Unfortunately a 4-1 loss to Christ’s at that stage consigned them to a play-off for positions 5 to 8, however they’ll be hoping for a kinder draw next year and a move up the rankings.

The Wellington region was represented by six teams in total, with the following rankings; Wairarapa College 16th, Wellington College 18th, Rathkeale College 20th, Heretaunga College 28th, St Patrick’s Silverstream 32nd.
