North Island Secondary Schools Athletics – Results
Congratulations to all students who qualified and competed at the North Island Secondary Schools Athletic Champs – which took place on 10-11 April.
Three records were set by members of the Wellington team. Will Anthony of Scots College continued on his hot form from the Wellington Regionals, winning gold in the Senior Boys 3000m and also setting a meeting record of 8:16.31s. He missed out narrowly on the double as he finished 2nd in the Senior Boys 1500m.
Elizabeth Hewitt from Chilton won the Senior Girls Hammer Throw setting a new record of 61.72m.
The other record set was in the Intermediate Boys 4x400m relay. Jacob Kilmister (Kapiti), Sebastian Skelton (Scots), Alex Martin (Wellington) & Lachlan Stefanidis (Wellington) had an outstanding run to take home gold and set the record of 3:31.23s.
A massive thank you to the managers of the team – Brian Seymour, Shaka Sola, Bronwen Sola & Jane Anthony. And of course the team selector Don Dalgliesh.
