COVID 19 – NZ Rugby update (24 April)

Please see below and attached updates and advice from NZ Rugby regarding Return to Play Guidelines, following consultation with Government and Sport NZ.

In short:

At Level 3 – from midnight Monday 27th April

  • NO rugby playing, training or in person engagement is permitted; clubrooms remain closed.

At Level 2 – Date TBC (Please note further update on L2 implications next Friday 1st May)

  • Training can commence, where a 1m personal bubble can be maintained; eg. team fitness, ball skill sessions but NO Rip Rugby, Touch or contact training;
  • In-person game development workshops can be conducted and Clubrooms can open as long as MOH guidelines are adhered to. Max numbers 100 people indoors. 500 outdoors;
  • *Contact tracing measures to be implemented.

At Level 1 – Date TBC

  • All forms of rugby training and play, face to face development workshops can resume with no physical distancing required;
  • Minimum two weeks pre-season, before competition;
  • Clubrooms can open as long as MOH guidelines are adhered to;
  • *Contact tracing measures must be in place.
