NZSS Football Association (NZSSFA) - General Manager Role

The newly established NZSS Football Association (NZSSFA) is seeking expressions of interest from an individual, individual(s), or organisations for the pivotal role of General Manager.  Previously two separate entities, the NZSSFA is a new united national entity, dedicated to advancing all aspects of boys' and girls' secondary school football across New Zealand. We are seeking a dedicated, proactive partner to drive our core objectives and make a lasting impact on youth football in New Zealand.


General Manager Role
This is a key appointment that will carry the bulk of the organisation's workload, serving as the primary functionary for administration, fi nancial sustainability and management of competitions and tournaments.  We are open to applications from a single General Manager or a combination of individuals who can demonstrate a dedicated, clear focus on meeting the organisation's core objectives and all functions of the role.


Key Functions

  1. Plan, organise and deliver the administrative, financial and operational aspects of the organisation in relation to delivering opportunities for all students in football within New Zealand Secondary Schools.
  2. Management of NZSSA tournaments, including all organisation and liaison with local tournament organisers, sponsors, suppliers and potential funding partners. Processing all entries and collection of affi liation and tournament fees.
  3. Maintain and update websites and social media feeds.
  4. Act as Secretary of the NZSSFA, with responsibility for coordinating links between members, the Executive Committee and outside agencies.
  5. Have responsibility for financial management of NZSSFA, including monitoring, managing and administration of budgets, financial accounts and audits of the organisation.


We are looking for applications that can demonstrate:

  • Exceptional Communication: Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Organisational Excellence: Excellent organisational skills, high level of attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple tasks/priorities.
  • Financial Acumen: Experience creating and monitoring budgets, preparing financial statements and audits, and proficiency with accounting software, Xero, Excel, and Google documents.
  • Professionalism: Discretion and professionalism, especially when handling confidential information.
  • Independence & Flexibility: Ability to work independently, proactively meet deadlines, and flexibility in working hours to manage peak and off-peak periods.
