Extra-Curricular Sports Coordinators x 2 - Paraparaumu College

We currently have 2 permanent, part-time (30hrs per week), term-time only, Extra-curricular Sports Coordinator positions available.

Located in our Sports Office, our Sports Coordinators play a key role in delivering a successful sporting programme at the college and having a positive impact on our students’ experiences. Working closely with the Sports Director you will help to organise, promote and manage a variety of sporting and physical recreation events, teams, coaches, managers and volunteers. These two roles also work closely together, sharing some functions and taking the lead on other areas of responsibility and for some sporting codes which will be allocated in consultation with the Sports Director. 

The Extracurricular Sports Coordinator will:

  • possess excellent people and communication skills, maintaining professionalism in all interactions with students, staff and the public
  • be highly organised, with strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple activities and workload to meet tight deadlines
  • enjoy working with young people and be student-focused in their approach
  • have a vested interest in growing sports, and adding value to the impact on students in participating in sports and recreational activities at college
  • establish and maintain positive relationships with students and their parents, staff, and all volunteers

  • preferably be familiar with and competent in the school administrative systems and Google platform
  • demonstrate high levels of integrity and professionalism
  • demonstrate cultural intelligence and competence, including an understanding of ngā tikanga Māori
  • hold a current first aid certificate (or be prepared to undergo training to obtain)

Hours worked will need to be flexible at times due to the nature of the role, with some weekend and evening work. The preferred candidates will be required to complete a police vetting check and must be eligible to work in New Zealand.

Director of Basketball – Wellington College

Wellington College is looking to appoint a Director of Basketball to take the already successful basketball programme onto the next step. This position will include the coaching of the Senior A team but will also be responsible for leading the technical and performance direction of basketball across the school. This will involve supporting coach and player development across all levels. The role will focus on basketball systems, coaching standards, player pathways, and programme culture.

This position is very much a part time role but there will some financial remuneration which we expect to increase as the programme develops.

Director of Sport and Active Recreation - Kāpiti College

Full-Time Leadership Position

Kapiti College, located on the beautiful Kapiti Coast, seeks an inspirational Director of Sport and Active Recreation to lead our comprehensive extracurricular programme. Senior A Basketball Coach – Hutt International Boys' School

HIBS basketball has made considerable progress with its basketball programme over the past 5 years and we are now consistently playing in the Boys’ premier Division.  “We have built up a competitive and strong player base, dedicated to developing players on and off the court.


The Role

We are seeking an experienced and passionate Senior A Basketball Coach to lead our top Boys’ team for the 2026 season. The successful candidate will demonstrate strong leadership, tactical understanding, and the ability to inspire excellence within a positive team culture.


Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver high-quality training sessions focused on skill development, teamwork, and game strategy
  • Manage player selection, performance, and development throughout the season
  • Lead the team during competitions, implementing effective in-game adjustments
  • Collaborate with assistant coaches, team managers, and the club committee
  • Foster sportsmanship, discipline, and respect within the team environment


Season Schedule & Commitment

  • Trials: Held from 1 March.
  • Pre-season Tournament: Held over the Easter Weekend (at St Pats Silverstream).
  • College Sport Season: Runs from May to the end of August.
  • Central Zone Regional Tournament: Held from Wednesday 2 September to Saturday 5 September in Palmerston North.
  • NZ Secondary School's Tournament: (If the team qualifies in the top 4 at Central Zone). Held during the school holidays, from Monday 28 September - Saturday 3 October.


Qualifications & Experience

  • Proven experience coaching at a senior or high-performance level (school, club, or representative)
  • Relevant coaching accreditation (e.g., Basketball NZ Level 1 or higher / equivalent)
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills
  • A commitment to player welfare and continuous improvement
