College Sport Wellington Privacy Statement – April 2021

College Sport Wellington collects personal information about participants (i.e. students, coaches, managers and officials) via our member schools, including some or all of the below:

• Name
• Photo ID (where required)
• Date of birth
• Year level
• The year they enrolled at that school
• If a student is ‘New to School’ and/or ‘Non Domestic’
• Contact information

We collect that information in order to:

• Ensure the eligibility of participants to compete in our sports competitions and events, as set out in the College Sport Wellington Bylaws.
• Administer our sports competitions and events.
• Communicate information that is relevant to their involvement in our competitions and events.

We keep the information safe by storing it securely on 3rd party systems, who each have privacy policies and measures in place to protect the information.

You have the right to ask for a copy of any personal information we hold about you, and to ask for it to be corrected if you think it is wrong. Secondary School Sport Census

Every year secondary schools complete a sport census for School Sport NZ (formally NZSSSC).  This includes data on school sport representation, teacher, coach and parental involvement in secondary school sport. Click here to see Wellington secondary school sport census specific results, as well as national results.

Active NZ Participation Survey – Sport NZ

Sport NZ has released the first report from its new Active NZ participation survey, providing a point-in-time snapshot of participation in sport and active recreation explored through the lenses of age, gender, ethnicity and deprivation.

It is the first time Sport NZ has combined adults and young people in one report, with data collected from 6,000 young people and 27,000 adults. Click to read more about the Active NZ 2017 Report.

Wellington Secondary School Sport Research

In 2013 Sport Wellington, in collaboration with College Sport Wellington, completed research looking at sport participation among five different colleges in the Wellington Region. The aim of the Secondary School Sport Research (SSSR) project was to better understand whether the types of sport and recreation currently being offered were in line with the wants, needs, motivations, preferences and desires of of secondary school age students in the Wellington region. Click here to read more about the Wellington Secondary School Sport Research.
