After a few years based at Lake Henley in Masterton, the Secondary School Regionals returned to Onepoto Domain, Porirua.  Rangatahi powered through the water and no amount of wind or rain was stopping their waka from racing!

Two school trophies were up for grabs:

• The School Excellence Award recognises the school that accumulates the most points across all races, with 4 points for each first place in Championship Finals, 3 points for a second place, 2 points for a third place, and 1 point for a fourth place.  The winner this year was Manukura (Palmerston North).

• The School Spirit Award is given to the school that contributes the most towards the atmosphere and event delivery, and for going the extra mile.  This year’s winner of this award was Wellington High School .

We want to take this time to thank everyone who helped to make this day possible, especially with the change in venue.

Huge thank you to our local Hoe Tonga clubs Hawaikinui Tuarua Waka Ama and TOA Waka Ama Club for providing your waka so the rangatahi could get out on the water!

To all of the whānau, coaches, managers and kaiako that volunteered your time out on the loading bay or anywhere else, thank you so much.
